We take a lot of pride in what we do here at Ninja Pancake, despite being a smaller website aimed at entertainment in general. Most of us talk of our passions for video games weekly. You listen to these shows pretty often. I could spend my time writing this talking about numbers but I won’t. Mainly it has to do with an agreement Patrick and I have when it comes to maintaining this website. Numbers make things seem like a cheap gimmick and often times I couldn’t agree more. All I will say is people keep visiting the site, showing their affections through mouse base clicked to their favorite shows on the network. Even I get a couple and I’m a total jerk!
It’s been a lot of fun for all of the shows getting your feedback. It might have been through a mail or even a Tweet. Everyone’s been hard at work to keep you entertained and following along. We recently had Bombshell Jackets launch, a podcast dedicated to Tom Clancy’s The Division, which has been very well received. I’m sure Tinkkz and Lady would thank you but if you listen to the show they’re tending to people in Lady’s basement. I’ve been told it’s a second full time job on their parts, which sounds pretty frightening. Tinkkz did have a statement prepared for The Short Stack 01 and I’ll paraphrase it for you. For some reason she sent a PowerPoint Presentation which contained her original message of thanks and it doesn’t translate well into text.
“Hey everyone, it’s Tinkkz. Today I’ve created a PowerPoint presentation showing how happy Lady and myself are with all the feedback you’ve given the show. We’re calling it ‘Thank Yous From The Basement’,”
This is where I got worried a little. I’d like to point out that it wasn’t because of the twelve slides filled with happy face, fingernails getting painted and dancing women emojis. It wasn’t even the ‘Thanks’ on each slide in the presentation which all basically said how great you all are. I was more worried that people actually use PowerPoint still. I was told to relay that they are very grateful to all of you listening. We’re proud of what they’ve been up to. For those of you who listen to Sweet Scoped, think of Bombshell Jackets as the sister show which is just focused solely on The Division. Both shows will continue to be produced in tandem and you have nothing to worry about. If you’ve yet to check out the show it’s right here.
More Pilots, Less Pilotwings
We’ve been known in our short time here mainly for gaming opinions, which most of our backgrounds relate to doing something involving said games. We’re hobbyists and we enjoy talking about them for sure. For the sake of further branching our palettes out as far as original programming content goes we have some new ideas in the works. These ideas are straying away from our usual video game mumbo jumbo. Mumbo jumbo is a phrase I’ve never used in a sentence before – See, even I’m trying new things. With these new things on the way, it’s really exciting for us all. We strive to be a place you go for entertainment and our new ideas we hope will continue to keep you amused. Currently, I can tell you of two of the five in development at the moment. Right now you might be thinking: “Development, lawl!” but there is time and effort taken into making shows. Plus, we don’t want them to be really boring or sound like something you’ve heard before.
A long time mention on the site, Project Snack Machine, has also been in development. We’re serious this time and promise it’s actually a thing. Watts, Karlee and myself have been jotting down ideas. Karlee, you’ll probably know from her PSN Name, TerminalHerp. She was also on Warlock School a few times as well. Our focus on this show is going back to our comedic roots and getting away from the video games chatter. We’re not saying we won’t mention any ever but once again this is a comedy show. In fact, it’s the show we always wanted to do in the first place. The best part is you’ll get to laugh again, along with us, without all of the salt. It’s really liberating to not be held down by a specific main topic we have to follow every week. While we did appreciate all the support we had with Warlock School, especially that of you who were upset when we stopped, it just seemed like the right direction to go in. We did set up a Twitter it’s @ProjectSnack, we’re not renaming Warlock School’s because we feel that would cheapen our efforts. We’re not making fun of other shows that do this to keep their old followers but we’re certainly mentioning it passive-aggressively.
If you’re into the mysteries of how computers and technology work may we present an audio guide? The GNA Podcast is generally a good bout of drunken hooligans talking about games but it’s host DJ has been putting together something new. It’s a little pet project he’s trying out called Technohol. The name surprised no one here. It has yet to be integrated into the site but will be along as soon as I’m done writing this love note to you. His goal is to help keep you informed with the inner workings of current technology while learning about new build methods himself. He released a small introductory podcast with a friend who is also passionate regarding computers. If you’re interested in listening to it, it is currently on iTunes and you can find it here.
There are some other projects in the works from friends of ours but I’m not really at liberty to talk about those non-gaming related shows yet. They’re still baking with their individual casts trying to get that just right golden brown but specifically for your ears. Like a delicious tray of lemon squares except the powdered sugar sprinkled on top won’t cause sneezing fits. Please note: I may be alone in this plight but for your consideration, picture a large ginger eating a treat. Then this large ginger somehow manages to sneeze powdered sugar out his nose and now you’re in on the joke!
…But I Come Here For The Video Games!
It’s fine, you have a whole slew of shows you could listen to. Why would I ever hint a podcast that’s a specialty show dedicated solely to Blizzard games? That would just be rude. Who would do such a thing? I mean, even if there was one that could become a possibility soon, would you listen? I would. My gentle hint is aimed at two of the most knowledgeable people I know when it comes to Diablo. They also fancy themselves as journeymen of Heroes of The Storm as well. From what I know of the show thus far, Overwatch will be in discussion when/if they receive access to that title. That’s a trifecta of Blizzard right there, you get three games mentioned in one show! If you’re wondering: “Why no World of Warcraft, breh?” it’s because they enjoy having their souls. That’s why. They’re getting the old recording chops ready and the formatting down but you should expect to be hearing from them in a month or so. We’ll make sure to update the site when it goes live.
The guys from Mulehorn Gaming have also been up to their usual mulebaggin’ lately. If you can’t get enough of their podcast on this site, they have their own website as well. Their site is new and improved with a fresh staff of writers doing that video game thing as well. It’s one of my favorite places to visit when I’m getting my read on. If you’ve yet to take a listen to their podcast, I highly recommend it and I’m not saying this as someone who helps maintain this site. I’m also a podcast enthusiast and someone who’s been listening since before they joined on. I have an often times soul crushing gig and their banter I find super amusing to get me through my day. If you want a good idea of what they do, I recommend Episode 14 linked here which was a real gem if you’re a Star Wars fan.
Watts Going On?
In case you’re worried about him and don’t have a GPS tracker embedded in his forearm, he’s doing well. Ignore the GPS tracker thing, it’s just a joke. Maybe. He’s been overseeing a lot of things on the site and helping me with evaluating content. It’s a grueling group effort where we talk in a VoIP server when he has free nights. The thing you should take away from this is being an adult and purchasing a home is hard work. He’ll be back in full force after next week helping out more and maybe even doing one of these notes. We’re currently working on a system to get E-Mail notifications to subscribers weekly about what’s new on the site. We’ll make sure to keep you informed when that goes live. We’re both learning, so we appreciate your patience as we keep tweaking this site into something we’ve always wanted it to be. If you really miss him you can always E-Mail him.
Anyway – It’s been a treat but I gotta’ run.
